Recent mediations include:
- Inheritance Act claim involving real estate and multiple financial assets. She says: "Every probate claim or Inheritance Act claim requires careful handling, not necessarily because the law is difficult (though it may be) but because underlying the legal issues there are often years - and sometimes decades - of family hurt".
- Commercial leasing claim involving allegations of fraud. She says: "Allegations of fraud can raise the emotional temperature, and perhaps also the jeopardy for individuals, and in such cases the mediator's role, whilst acknowledging (and perhaps absorbing) the emotional heat, is to help the parties maintain focus on the underlying commercial deal".
- Dissolution of a business partnership. She says: "Often the partners’ contributions and responsibilities evolve over time, their ambitions change and sometime diverge. Mediation is an ideal environment to air and help resolve these types of disputes. Rather than allowing the process to become a battle over competing legal rights (which are often not clear), I seek to help the partners consider the range of possible outcomes to find an outcome that can work for all parties."
- Dispute between a corporate and contractor in respect of services provided, subcontracts and ownership of IP. She says “In the midst of litigation the disputed issues can become entangled amongst the weeds of the litigation strategy, escalating costs in time and cash. In such circumstances I provide a neutral privileged space to facilitate commercial discussion that may not only resolve the dispute but even help retain a good working relationship between the parties.”
