Stephen Woodward

Stephen is an English-qualified Solicitor-Advocate who has over 30 years of dispute resolution experience in the City of London and internationally.  He spent 15 years as a Commercial Litigation lawyer in private practice with two major international firms, before moving in-house in 2006 to Citi, the US-based global financial services organization, where he became Head of Litigation & Regulatory Investigations for the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region.  In that role, he had responsibility for overseeing the conduct and resolution of a wide variety of commercial disputes in many different countries.  In 2024, Stephen stepped away from legal advisory work to focus exclusively on mediating.  Stephen is a strong believer in the power and benefits of mediation, having seen it succeed in many different types of dispute during the course of his private practice and in-house careers.

Stephen has particular familiarity with banking and finance-related disputes and a sound understanding of financial products and markets and their regulation. His wider legal experience extends, however, to just about every type of commercial claim, including those relating to alleged breaches of contract, negligence (professional or otherwise), shareholder and partnership disputes and employer/employee contractual (not work-place) claims.

Stephen gained his accreditation as a Mediator from CEDR (the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution).  He is a member of the Law Society of England & Wales and a Civil Mediation Council Registered mediator.
